Learn how to easily in just a few steps create a date icon.

Create new document. Make new selection with selection tool and fill it black.

Go to menu Selection>Modify>Contract and contract the selection for about 2 pixels.  Make a gradient color from #5fa6f9 to #314878 and fill in the selection.

Use the selection tool again but this time set the selection type to Rounded rectangle. Make a smaller selection inside the gradient area and fill in with gradient from #5fa6f9 to white.

Go to Effects> 3D effects>Cutout and set the following:

 Now you have this:

And that is it. Add your date and re-size it do desired size.
